New Center in Honduras

Up in the mountains overlooking the city of San Pedro Sula, excitement is in the air. Anita & Alex (area Directors for Honduras) stepped into a new church as pastors after “Iglesia, Dia de Salvacion” recently and tragically lost their pastor. Shocking changes happen to all of us and this church was thrust into a turbulent season of loss. Unfortunately, as many of you know, it is often the most vulnerable like children that are most affected when things go wrong.  The people were suffering. The church was declining. The children were hungry. But the story wasn’t over!  As Alex & Anita began to counsel and minister to the people there, their hearts of compassion grew for this community.  Recognizing the desperate need for the love of God which sets men free, they began to hope and pray about opening a feeding center in this devastated place. On our recent visit to Honduras in September, they made it a point to take us up the mountain to this church.

We prayed together at the site and began to seek God about what He would have us do.

I remember thinking to myself as we prayed, “We have got to figure out how to get this feeding center open…and soon!

You see while in a circle of prayer, there were 2 little girls that wondered up the stairs where we were. They live near the church and we were told a story about kids just like them. A father, overwhelmed and discouraged had recently abandoned his family and decided to try and get into the United States. He left his wife and children behind with no money or any way to feed the kids. This unfortunately happens a lot and young mothers are left with the overwhelming challenge of not only taking care of the kids but also somehow earning money to feed them.

This is why, it’s just awesome and exciting that we can announce here that this NEW FEEDING CENTER, where these little girls live is OPEN! Because of the urgent need, Charlie’s Lunch decided to open this site immediately. Fresh, hot, nutritious meals are being served and the kids are no longer hungry all while being taught about the God that loves them. We give God all the glory for what He is doing in this place. He is the author of this compassion Himself

This opening is happening by faith. We need your help to keep it open. If you’d like to give a special offering to this new site, you can do so online or by mailing us a check.
